"If you're looking to jump on the Core i7 bandwagon with a modest budget for tri-channel RAM, then you would do well to give these Crucial 6GB modules a very close look, particularly if you're looking to overclock on the cheap. Currently priced around $185 USD online, you'll find solid stability, performance, and pricing make these Crucial tri-channel DDR3-1333 modules a great buy." Full review

Whatifgaming Golden Choice Award Crucial DDR3-1066 Memory
Golden Choice Award

"The performance of what this memory is capable surpasses many DDR3 memories at standard settings and easily out-performs most DDR3 setup for benchmarking given capacity. DDR3 memory is becoming a greater performance update and is showing gains in gaming. Sure the small fps gain doesn't exactly make people jump out for any DD3 memory, but that's because games are not yet fully created with a newer memory in mind. At the moment, money is more useful for the enthusiasts (most of whom play games like maniacs) when buying CPUs and GPUs. If you're into serious operations, transcodes, encodes, and composites, memory plays a major role and putting money well spent on the Crucial DDR3 PC3-8500 RAM is a great start. Having it in mind for a high end system is even better." Full review

Best of CES 2009 Award

"Long listed among our favorite memory manufacturers, Crucial has produced quality products for many years. When we stopped by their booth last week, we were floored to see their new Ballistix Tracer line of modules. Now, it's true that memory modules are not exactly "awesome" anymore, but the styling of these Tracer's came across to Rob and I as being FREAKING AWESOME." Full review

"We've been eagerly awaiting the release of Crucial Ballistix Tracers for the Core i7 platform. While there are lots of kits out there there's only one kit that takes the bling factor beyond the normal high tech heat spreader. That's right, if you want the ultimate in bling clipped into your ram slots there's only one vendor that can bring you Tri Channel DDR3 for the Core i7 platform that feature color keyed LED's in Blue, Red and Green." "Yes, The Bling Guy is a rare breed in today's tanking economy, someone who has the cash for the flash and wants everyone to know it. LAN Parties are a popular hangout of the Bling Guy, and no heatsink, no exhaust fan, no memory module is too ostentatious for this creature. Well, we've just the thing to satisfy that hunger today: a set of Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6GB tri-channel DDR3-1600 modules, sticks that are probably the most pimped-up modules you can buy, complete with logarithmic-inducing blinking LED lights. Necessary? Perhaps not. Overdone? Maybe. Over the top? Hellya. These sticks are about as crazy as it gets, and frankly, we live for this stuff." Full review

February 2009 — 3DGameman.com
Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR3-1600 Green Modules
Gameman’s Choice Award

"The Crucial Tracer PC3-12800 Memory offers excellent performance and it overclocks even higher than its 1600MHz default memory speed. The big draw with this memory is the 6GB (2GBx2) memory kit and of course the LEDs. There are also 3GB kits available but 6GB is preferred with Windows Vista and Windows 7 64-bit operating systems. Additionally the timing on this memory is excellent at 8-8-8-24 1T at 1600MHz using only 1.65 volts. A lot of memory in this category has a timing of 9-9-9-24 or slower. Memory in a tr-channel configuration at DDR3-1600MHz is outstanding as it is but having a 8-8-8-24 1T is really impressive and means amazing performance." Full review

PureOC.com Great Hardware Award Crucial Ballistix Three Channel DDR3-1600 Memory
Great Hardware Award

"Yes...yes… the review is done and I say Crucial’s 1600 DDR3 came out a winner. Crucial finishes with a look to kill and the power and overclockability to make an enthusiast smile. From aesthetics to performance Crucial has done a fine job living up to the bar they set for themselves. With their excellent customer service and warranty packages this memory is very appealing as a whole and that’s what we are looking for. Not only do these sticks look sharp and perform well, they have a competitive price tag. At major North American online retailers you’re looking at this kit to be around $135 USD which is a competitive price right now, especially for 1600 MHz DDR3 memory with the ability to overclock easily to over 2000MHz, and tight 6-6-6-12 timings at stock speed. Their ability to overclock well and have such low latencies sets this memory apart since you’re paying a good price for a high quality piece of hardware with nice power to speed ratios." Full review

November 2008 — Techaddicts.net
Techaddicts Highly Recommended Rating Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-1066
Highly Recommended Rating

"The Crucial Ballistix Tracer's performed well at stock speeds and the settings were detected by the motherboard upon the first boot. The memory also exceeded my expectations in terms of overclockability, overclocking all the way to 1192MHz at 5-5-5-18 CR2 timings with 2.35 volts. The benchmark results reflect the difference when the clock speeds are adjusted and noticeable improvements are made once the memory clock speeds are ramped up. These memory modules are perfect for anyone looking for DDR2-1066/PC2-8500 rated memory for their systems. The activity LED's are an added bonus and make the insides of your case look great, system modifiers will love these. At around $60, these modules offer great value and performance and are highly recommended." Full review

Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC3-10600 4GB
Gameman’s Choice Award

"The Crucial Tracer PC3-10600 memory offers excellent performance and it overclocks even higher than its 1333MHz default memory speed. The big draw with this memory is the 4GB (2GBx2) memory kit and of course the LEDs ... I also like how they updated the LEDs. There are more of them and they are spread along the entire module. The older Tracer memory has fewer LEDs and they are located in the center. These LEDs look cool especially if you have a window in your case and they serve as a visual aid showing system's functional status." Full review

Editor's Choice Award — 10 out of 10 Rating

"The Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 4GB Dual Channel kit is definitely what I'd call "wicked". Its bright red heat spreaders make it among the best-looking memory I've seen. The LED display is something pretty unique…Not only does the memory have no problem running 1:2 with a 1066mHz FSB processor, I don't know of another memory kit capable of a 50% overclock without special cooling, and without surpassing the manufacturer's recommended maximum VDIMM." "Well there you have it folks, Crucial once again knocks socks off and does it in style. The Ballistix line of memory has always been known to impress and rightfully they should. But what this kit of memory has done on the 790i test motherboard is just above and beyond what our expectations were ... and our expectations were certainly a little bit lofty coming in. Needless to say, we weren't expecting to be able to benchmark at 1100MHz+ and certainly not at the little amount of voltage that was required to do so. Simply put, this memory out ran the motherboard and it wasn't even a close race." Full review

ProClockers Highly Recommended Award Crucial Ballistix DDR3-2000 Memory

"We know that most of you all out there that are willing to go in search of this kit will not leave any setting at default would love to know this kit has more to offer. Achieving another 50MHz may not seem like a lot but you must realize that this is not a 1600 or 1800MHz this is rated at an industry high of 2000MHz which is something that was unheard of in the early days of DDR3. We were totally satisfied with this overclock amount. And chances are we will get more out of it as we do a little more testing with other motherboards in the future." Full review

"Show stopping good looks, check. Killer performance, check. Overclocking headroom, check. Crucial has almost all the bases covered with this kit. I believe the LEDs are the true selling points of this memory and set it apart from the sea of 4GB DDR2 kits currently available. Put everything together and you have one of the best DDR2 kits available on the market." Full review

"After witnessing the excellent overclocking potential from this memory, it is hard to wrap your brain around the fact that this memory costs less than US$100 for a 2 Gig kit. It's cheap, it's stable, it's incredibly overclockable and for garnish has its interesting LED illumination to light up your gaming case. There are few products that come out that come across my testbed and prove to be a complete "no-brainer" when it comes to deciding if it is worth the money. In my mind, this kit is worth more than its pricetag and should be on your list of kits you should consider if you are upgrading. Having a standard PC2-8500 kit clocking at 1233Mhz rock solid is impressive … If you need good memory for your next upgrade, look no further." Full review

"The Crucial 32GB SSD offers consumers another choice in the greatly expanding SSD market. Crucial is also going the extra mile to show off the ruggedness of their flash drives by operating them in one of the most severe environments possible; a paint shaker…Considering that the Crucial SSD is also the fastest SSD we have tested to date, this level of performance makes it quite tempting to finally pull the trigger on one for my own notebook."
